David worked with Phoebe (fka Dakota) at Pets Alive Westchester after she had been returned. When I first met her to adopt her she was very reactive towards other dogs and struggled to focus and relax. This was a big undertaking for me as I was accustomed to raising a dog from puppy-hood and I'd never adopted an older dog with any sort of issues.
David assured me that Phoebe had immense potential and that most of her issues were a result of her environment. As wonderful as the facility and people were at P.A.W. Phoebe needed a steady home and a solid routine. David could not have been more right. After a couple of post-adoption sessions and some training, Phoebe has grown leaps and bounds into a loving, happy, and healthy dog that is able to adapt to changes in scenery, people, and other dogs in a way that I haven't seen in any of my previous pets. David's approach is spot on. He has an ability to bridge the gap between human and animal behavior in a way that creates harmony, happiness, and love. I would recommend Kurlander Kennels to anyone who asks.

"We have been training with David since our Shih Tzu Logan was about 16 weeks old. I was having some difficulties as a first time fur-parent and I was unable get a collar or leash on Logan without him throwing a tantrum (amongst other issues). I thought he might start becoming aggressive so I called David after being referred by mutual friends/clients. By the end of the day of our first session (and a lot of rest and patience) I was able to take him on his first walk. Now he's training to be a service dog and walks great on a leash, is not aggressive (he actually LOVES everyone) and continues to make excellent progress in all other areas of his training. I would not have been successful without David's assistance. He will show you how to properly communicate with your dog without the use of harmful or traumatic techniques. He is one of the most patient and caring individuals I have ever met and a true professional. I would highly recommend him to anyone!"
